HBES
is
an
international
society
that
was
founded
to
provide
a
forum
for
the
dissemination
of
research
on
the
evolution
of
human
behavior.
Its
two
main
activities
are
the
highly-rated
journal,
Evolution
and
Human
Behavior,
and
an
annual
conference.
The
HBES
Annual
Meeting
regularly
attracts
a
diverse
group
of
researchers,
including,
anthropologists,
economists,
legal
scholars,
psychologists,
primatologists,
political
scientists,
biologists,
behavioral
ecologists,
physicians,
and
humanities
scholars.
This
year’s
lineup
of
speakers
reflects
this
diversity.
The
conference
Keynote
Address
will
be
presented
by
Randolph
Nesse.
Our
Plenary
Speakers
include
economist
Samuel
Bowles,
anthropologist
and
primatologist
Sarah
Hrdy;
linguist
Jean-Marie
Hombert,
biologist
Tim
Clutton-Brock,
anthropologist
Frank
Marlowe,
developmental
psychologist
Andrew
Whiten.
HBES
membership
is
worldwide.
International
interest
in
this
forum
has
sparked
the
creation
of
sister
organizations
by
HBES
members
in
Europe
and
Asia:
the
European
Human
Behavior
and
Evolution
Association,
and
the
Human
Behavior
and
Evolution
Society,
Japan.
In
addition
to
the
North
American
universities
that
have
traditionally
hosted
HBES,
recent
meetings
have
been
held
in
London,
Berlin,
and
Kyoto.
We
are
honored
to
be
hosting
the
23nd
Annual
HBES
Meetings
at
Montpellier,
and
invite
scholars
from
across
the
disciplines
to
attend.
